[/] - ALIAS DISCORD BOT
Control Your Alias Profile From Discord
Right now that means your status. Type one command and the pill beside your name updates, without opening the site. More of the profile is coming to the bot after this. You can also drop it into your own server so everyone there can use it.
What you set
One command in, one pill out.
Text, an emoji, or both. Either one on its own is enough. Pick an example to see what you type and what your profile ends up showing.
Status set. It clears in 4 hours.
Only you can see this
The pill above is the same component your profile renders
Getting started
Three steps, one of them optional.
You only do the first one once. After that, setting a status is the command on its own.
Link your Discord
One click in your Alias settings. That is how the bot knows which profile is yours, and you only do it once.
Run /status set
Run it in any server the bot is in, or just message the bot directly. Your profile updates as soon as you hit enter.
Add it to your own server
Optional. It saves you having to go and find a server that already has the bot in it.
Commands
Four of them. That's the whole bot.
They are slash commands, so Discord fills in the options as you type. The bot answers you privately, so nothing lands in the channel.
/status setSet your status. Give it text, an emoji, or both, pick how long it lasts, and choose whether it shows up in the Alias feed.
/status clearTake your status down.
/status showCheck what your status currently says, or look up someone else's.
/linkGet the link to connect your Discord account to Alias.
Good to know
No surprises in your server.
The bot speaks when somebody runs a command and stays quiet otherwise. Nobody has to hand it a channel or build it a role.
Only you see the replies
The bot answers whoever ran the command and nobody else in the server sees it. It does not post in your channels at all.
One change every 15 minutes
You can keep your status current without anyone being able to flood the feeds of the people who follow them.
Nothing to configure
Add it and it works. There is no setup command to run, and you do not have to create a role or pick a channel first.
What is next
Status is the first thing, not the last.
The plan is to move more of the profile behind these commands, so the things you currently open the customize page for can be done from Discord instead. We would rather ship one command that works properly than a menu full of half-finished ones, so the rest arrives as it is ready.
Questions
Before you ask.
The things people tend to check before putting a bot in a server they care about.
Do I need an Alias account to use the bot?
Yes, because the bot writes to your Alias profile and needs to know which profile is yours. You link your Discord account once in your Alias settings, and it works everywhere after that.
Can I use the bot without adding it to a server?
Yes. If it is already in a server you are in, run the commands there. Messaging the bot directly works too.
Who can see my status?
Anyone who visits your Alias profile, same as a status you set on the website. It shows beside your name. The bot's reply to you stays private.
Can the bot change anything else on my profile?
Not yet. Status is the only thing it controls today. More of the profile is planned, and the commands will grow as those land.
How often can I change my status?
Once every 15 minutes. It keeps things readable for anyone following you.
Does adding the bot change anything in my server?
No. It does not post messages, touch your roles, or change any settings. It only replies to whoever ran a command.
Put it in your server.
It is free and takes about ten seconds. Anyone in your server who has an Alias account can use it straight away, and whatever we add to the bot later shows up without you having to reinvite it.
